No Man's Sky Remnant Update Brings New Tools

Hello Games continues to support No Man's Sky with significant content additions as the game approaches its tenth anniversary. The Remnant update introduces a new gravity gun, called the Gravitino Coil, integrated into the multi-tool device. This tool empowers players to manipulate large objects, enabling them to grab, carry, shoot, or toss items across various planetary environments. The Gravitino Coil also facilitates heavy-duty waste collection, potentially yielding valuable and rare finds from scrap. Players can even use it to interact with smaller enemies, such as sentinel drones, by grabbing them. I do note the Gravitino Coil alters resource collection significantly.

Complementing the Gravitino Coil, the update expands customization for the Colossus exocraft trucks. Players now possess a broad selection of options for personalizing these vehicles. These choices include cabins, various chassis attachments, and a spectrum of paint options. The update also introduces new wheels and running gear, such as treads, superelastic wheels, off-road gear, and distinct front attachments. Spider-walker legs offer unique traversal capabilities. A new flatbed module transforms the Colossus into a dedicated hauler, though attempting to ascend steep cliffs or unstable terrain with it may cause the vehicle to tip. Furthermore, a furnace module allows for immediate waste disposal while traversing planets. I see the new customization options provide distinct aesthetic and functional choices.

Combining the capabilities of the Colossus and the Gravitino Coil, players can establish salvage operations. These crews focus on cleaning landscapes, transporting, and salvaging resources from wrecks or industrial waste. Collected materials can be delivered to an industrial yard or new Waste Processing Plants, which convert them into valuable resources. Removing waste threats also yields rewards. Players may encounter Volatile Waste in the world, an unstable material that can be toxic, radioactive, or explosive. Managing and delivering this hazardous material to specialized processing plants requires careful handling.

The Remnant update also features a new community expedition available for a limited time. This event brings players together to form a convoy, collaborating to clean up and reclaim a planet covered in wrecks and potential salvage. Participants will need to utilize the new features introduced in this update to contribute to the cleanup efforts, whether by hauling materials or processing delivered items in a scrapyard. A new Heirloom armor set is earnable by participating in this community expedition.

No Man's Sky Remnant Update Brings New Tools 3

No Man's Sky has undergone a transformative journey since its initial launch. Despite facing a challenging release primarily due to unmanaged expectations and features that were not present at the time, Hello Games consistently supported the title. The development team has released numerous free updates, adding extensive content and gameplay features. This continuous dedication has successfully resurrected the game, sustaining its player base for nearly a decade. Hello Games also continues work on Light No Fire, an open-world adventure game, but maintains a consistent update schedule for No Man's Sky.

Back to the previous large update in October 2025, No Man's Sky Breach Update expanded ship exploration and improved performance. This substantial addition deepened the game’s ship-building systems, providing one of the largest content refreshes since the Voyagers expansion in August.
