Notorious Adult Animal Crossing Island Deleted After Five Years
It is the end of an era for some players. After a five-year run, Nintendo deleted a popular, adult-oriented Dream Island created by the user @churip_ccc. The island was a well-known tourist spot, particularly among Japanese players and streamers, for its detailed and risqué themes that stood in stark contrast to the game's wholesome aesthetic. The creator announced the deletion just before the game’s recent 3.0 update, noting the island was no longer available for visits.
Upon arriving at the destination, players were first greeted by a "free information center," or muryou annaijo. While seemingly innocent, these centers in Japan are often fronts used to guide people to brothels, strip clubs, and other sketchy nightlife establishments. The theme continued with a dedicated red-light district inspired by the Edo-era, a love hotel, and adult shops selling items like schoolgirl-inspired cosplay outfits. The island featured multiple copies of Michelangelo's Statue of David, with palm trees and other foliage strategically placed to emphasize the sculpture's anatomy. Other areas included pachinko parlors, designated smoking areas, and vending machines dispensing "natural herbs."
The island's residents also had lives that matched their surroundings. I saw that the interior of the wise owl Blathers' room was decorated with numerous images of Isabelle on the walls and littered with used tissues on the floor. Tom Nook’s room had feminine touches suggesting he brought guests home after work. The character Violet was cast as a “legendary” oiran, a high-ranking courtesan, living in a suite above a multi-purpose building that housed a strip club and pachinko parlor. The detailed world wasn't all luxury; large parts of the town were filled with trash and abandoned buildings, hinting at a darker reality for its inhabitants.
The island’s creator, @churip_ccc, expressed no bitterness over the deletion. Instead, they issued an apology to Nintendo while also expressing gratitude for the company’s inaction over the years. In a post translated by Automaton, the creator addressed the situation.
"To Nintendo, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Or rather, thank you for turning a blind eye for more than five years." — @churip_ccc
The creator also thanked the many visitors and streamers who showcased the island in videos, helping it rise to notoriety shortly after the game’s launch in 2020. While the official Dream Address is gone, the island’s bustling streets and hidden back alleys now exist only through the many videos and livestreams that documented its five-year history.
Read also, the 3.0 update adds a resort hotel where players can acquire new themed item sets and collaboration items. Collecting these requires a new currency, Hotel Tickets, which are earned by completing quests. A small but significant change in the update is a new lateral moving tool. This feature gives players more precise control when terraforming and decorating, addressing a long-standing request from the community.
