CD Projekt RED Congratulated Rebel Wolves on the Successful The Blood of Dawnwalker Release—and Made it Exquisite

On September 3, former CD Projekt RED employees—now part of Rebel Wolves—are releasing their debut project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Ahead of the upcoming release, critics’ reviews of the new open-world RPG have begun to appear online, and they’ve been very positive. The development team behind The Witcher didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate their fellow developers (and former colleagues), and they did so in a very elegant way.

Specifically, Philipp Weber, narrative director at CD Projekt RED, posted a congratulatory message on X, referencing The Blood of Dawnwalker’s critical reception. In his post, he congratulated Rebel Wolves on a successful launch and noted that “the only thing that sucks here are the vampires,” which fit quite naturally into the context of the game and its reviews. You can check out Weber’s full post below:

Congratulations to all my friends at Rebel Wolves! Looks like the only thing that sucks here are the vampires, because these scores are awesome!!!

Can't wait to get my hands on Dawnwalker in a few days!

Incidentally, users in the comments appreciated Philipp Weber’s joke, which they found hilarious. Returning to The Blood of Dawnwalker’s critical reviews, the game currently has a score of 83 on Metacritic (based on 60 critic reviews) and 85 on OpenCritic (92% recommend the game). It has been praised for its time-limit mechanic, which encourages replayability, as well as for its atmosphere, music, beautiful open world, and storyline. That said, reviewers make no secret of the fact that the game bears quite a few similarities to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—but that doesn’t detract from it in the slightest.

Amid positive reviews, The Blood of Dawnwalker is currently among the top three best-selling games on Steam —with the top two spots held by Apex Legends and Counter-Strike 2, both of which are distributed under a free-to-play model. This is undoubtedly good news for the developers, as they can look forward to strong sales and the development of a sequel, which they announced plans for earlier this summer.
