Player Conquers Duollistes Boss in Clair Obscur After Eight Hours

A player has completed one of the most demanding fights in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, spending eight hours and executing over 10,000 parries to defeat the Duollistes boss. The encounter occurs in the Endless Tower and was designed for max-level parties, but the player’s party averaged around level 80.

The boss consists of a tandem of Duallistes, previously featured in the Forgotten Battlefield, and requires precise timing and sustained focus to overcome. Reddit user Recordbreaks documented the effort, noting that their remaining expeditioner, Verso, dealt roughly 200,000 damage per strike. Recordbreaks reported a total of 231 million damage dealt against Duollistes over the course of the fight.

"Only reason it took me this long is because I haven't properly built Verso for damage in the millions yet," — Recordbreaks wrote.

Verso survived while the rest of the party fell, turning the fight into a drawn-out contest of endurance rather than a rapid defeat.

Recordbreaks relied entirely on parries, completing 10,545 successful deflections with no successful dodges. They described Duollistes’ long attack sequences as “very easy to parry,” which made the fight a protracted war of attrition. When asked about the physical toll, Recordbreaks reported minor twitching but no lasting discomfort and confirmed their keyboard endured the strain.

Read also, Clair Obscur’s Most Punishing Fight Traces Back To Elden Ring — fewer than 16 percent of players have defeated Simon, a hidden enemy tied to the earliest expedition and one of Verso’s oldest allies. His design and behavior place him far outside the normal difficulty curve.

The fight predates Simon, a boss widely considered the most difficult in Expedition 33. Simon remains unbeaten by some players, including a Sandfall co-founder, and is avoided by most due to its great difficulty. Duollistes represents the first real endgame test for those exploring the Endless Tower in the free DLC.

This achievement has drawn attention for both its scale and method. Eight hours of continuous focus, combined with meticulous parrying, underscores the challenges designed for veteran players. The encounter highlights the design philosophy of the DLC: extreme difficulty intended to push players to the limits of skill and endurance.
