Minecraft Brings Stranger Things World Into Game With New DLC
Mojang has released a Stranger Things-themed DLC for Minecraft, allowing players to explore Hawkins, the Upside Down, and key events from the first four seasons of the Netflix series. The content is now available on the Minecraft Marketplace across all modern platforms, except for the Nintendo Switch, which lacks the required 6GB of RAM.
Players entering the DLC will find familiar locations rendered in Minecraft’s blocky style. The release includes Starcourt Mall, the gate from Season 2, and encounters with the Mind Flayer and Vecna. Each season is structured as a separate quest, replicating key story moments without covering the upcoming Season 5.
The DLC introduces characters including a blocky version of Murray, along with other recognizable figures. Players can spawn directly into the 1980s Hawkins environment and interact with objects like walkie-talkies and arcade machines, experiencing the town’s events firsthand in an open-world format.
Purchasing the DLC before January 25, 2026, unlocks a Hellfire Club t-shirt item for character customization. The pack’s system requirements indicate at least 6GB of RAM to run smoothly, making it suitable for most PCs and consoles, including the anticipated Switch 2, but excluding the original Switch and lower-end mobile devices.
The update aligns with the timing of Stranger Things’ final season on Netflix. Mojang designed the content to maintain narrative secrecy beyond Season 4 while allowing fans to revisit and interact with the franchise’s defining locations. The design adheres to Minecraft’s visual identity, transforming iconic structures and characters into cubic, interactive models.
“This DLC lets players experience Hawkins in a new way while remaining faithful to the show’s story and characters,” said a Mojang representative.
The pack is built for open-world exploration, encouraging players to investigate environmental cues, solve challenges, and confront classic enemies from the series.
The release continues Mojang’s trend of tie-ins with external media franchises, following previous collaborations including Monsterverse properties. The company emphasizes accessibility across multiple platforms, though system memory remains a limiting factor for some older devices.

Players can acquire the DLC directly from the Minecraft Marketplace, where it is available for immediate download. The content aims to combine nostalgia for the series with Minecraft’s sandbox mechanics, providing both narrative engagement and creative freedom.

The Stranger Things DLC is part of a larger strategy of seasonal and franchise-based content drops. Mojang’s updates increasingly focus on modular releases that add gameplay features without waiting for comprehensive annual updates.
