Merge Tactics Drops a Massive December 2025 Update: New Ruler, Troops, Traits & More
Merge Tactics is closing out December 2025 with one of its most imaginative updates yet, arriving just after Clash Royale’s November 2025 patch. This festive season introduces a brand-new Ruler, an entirely new category of building modifiers, three additional troops, and a rotation that temporarily removes six existing ones.
The update also brings new Traits, fresh skins, and several quality-of-life improvements that make battles smoother and more strategic. Here is a full breakdown of everything included.
Clash Royale Merge Tactics – December 2025 Update Overview
New Ruler: Battle Machine
Battle Machine enters the Merge Tactics Arena as the December season’s newest Ruler. His signature ability, Building Master, summons a random 1/2/3/4-Star building at the start of Rounds 1, 3, 5, and 8. This provides an early structural advantage but comes with a minor drawback: –1 maximum Team Size.
Battle Machine can be unlocked on Starsteel Road, which also rewards:
- Zebrawood Machine (Skin)
- Scheme Machine (Skin)
- Blazing Bombshell (Confetti)
The Forge Machine skin will be sold in the shop and instantly unlocks Battle Machine if he has not yet been obtained. Royale King is joining the holiday celebration as well with the Santa King skin, available for purchase with Gems.
New Troops
Three new troops arrive this season:

Six troops will be temporarily rotated out this season: Archer, Bomber, Knight, Baby Dragon, Electro Wizard, and Giant Skeleton.
New Traits
Several new Traits debut in this update:

Meanwhile, Avenger, Electric, Fire, Juggernaut, and Mage Traits are rotated out.

New Modifiers: Buildings
Buildings become a new modifier type this month. Once deployed, these structures stay in place and act as full combat units with their own HP, damage, and range. They do not consume Team Size, reduce Ruler HP, or scale with card levels.
December Season Building Modifiers:

More building modifiers are planned for January.
Other Improvements
A handful of quality-of-life features round out the update:
- Players can now use emotes during Merge Tactics battles.
- A new Battle Stats window shows detailed round-by-round data such as damage and healing.
- The battlefield view can now be zoomed in or out.
- Ruler skins can be sorted by Ruler or Rarity for easier navigation.
