With just days to go before the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Activision has slipped a surprise teaser into Warzone — featuring none other than Raul Menendez, the infamous villain from Black Ops 2.

The upcoming title will serve as a direct sequel to 2012’s Black Ops 2, marking the return of several fan-favorite characters — including some long thought dead.

🔥 A Legendary Villain Returns

Earlier this year, during the Xbox Games Showcase, the first teaser for Black Ops 7 hinted that Menendez was alive, sparking huge debate among fans. Now, a fresh in-game Warzone easter egg makes it official.

Players can find the teaser at Verdansk’s TV Station, where Menendez delivers a chilling broadcast:

"My name is Raul Menendez. As you can see, I am alive and well. 2025 was just the beginning. A necessary first step. Once again, you shall know fear."

🕵 The Story Mystery

How Black Ops 7 will follow Black Ops 2’s events remains unclear — especially since the 2012 game featured multiple possible endings, including one where Mason kills Menendez. Many fans have long assumed that this was the canonical outcome, making the villain’s sudden return even more puzzling.

📅 What’s Next

All will become clearer on August 19, when Activision showcases Black Ops 7 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. While it’s unknown whether the focus will be on the campaign, multiplayer, or Zombies mode, fans are hoping for a first full look at all three.

Additionally, the game’s launch will bring major updates to Warzone, details of which are expected during this year’s COD Next event.
