Clash of Clans Town Hall 18 Update: All Major Features and What to Expect

Supercell is preparing to roll out one of the biggest Clash of Clans updates of the year with the long-anticipated arrival of Town Hall 18, expected to launch late 2025. While the official release date hasn’t been confirmed, developers have already shared exciting insights into what’s coming — including a new gameplay mechanic, troop additions, system overhauls, and more.

🏰 Town Hall 18 & Brand-New Gameplay Mechanic

Town Hall 18 won’t just be another upgrade — it’s bringing a completely new gameplay mechanic never seen before in Clash of Clans. While the developers haven’t revealed full details, this feature will likely reshape how players interact with their Home Village, especially for endgame users.

Temporary features like Superchargers and Crafted Defenses are being introduced to keep high-level players engaged, without overwhelming those still progressing through Town Hall 17. The team is focused on striking a balance between permanent progression and limited-time content to maintain a fun, manageable experience.

🐘 New Troop: Elephant Rider

The fan-favorite Elephant Rider, winner of the Supercell Make campaign, is confirmed to join the game as a limited-time event troop. Once deployed, this massive unit charges at nearby walls, destroying large segments before splitting into smaller troops.

While there's no set date for its debut, developers have hinted it will be introduced in future updates. The success of this campaign could also inspire future community-driven events to design new troops, defenses, or equipment.

⚙️ Equipment & Ore System Updates

Epic equipment drops will now follow a bi-monthly release schedule for the rest of 2025. Since July missed a drop, players can expect a new Epic item in August. Once TH18 launches, players may see either new equipment levels or adjustments to keep existing gear relevant.

The Starry Ore system is also under review. Developers admitted the current economy isn’t user-friendly, especially for returning players. Improvements being explored include events like an “Ore Hammer Jam” and adding Starry Ore to Star Bonuses, with more fixes expected in 2026.

🏆 Event Overhauls: Gold Rush & Clan Games

The successful Gold Rush event is making a return 3–4 times a year, each with unique resource themes (e.g., Elixir, Dark Elixir). Future editions might offer bonus weekends or faster progression paths.

For Clan Games, developers are testing a clan-wide bingo board system, where completing smaller tasks unlocks larger rewards. Additionally, Season Challenges may be reworked to align more naturally with daily gameplay — so players won’t feel forced to use specific units or game modes.

💎 Cosmetics, Treasure Chests & UI Changes

Treasure Chests have proven popular, especially among free-to-play players. Upcoming cosmetic additions include:

  • Mythic Hero Skins with custom animations
  • Troop Skins
  • No defensive skins, as they could affect gameplay clarity

The Player Profile system is also set for an eventual redesign to better showcase newer cosmetic content and streamline user experience.

🔧 Super Troop Reworks & Balancing

Super Troops might soon become permanently unlockable at certain Town Hall levels, removing the need for temporary boosts. Less-used troops like Super Valkyrie may see balance tweaks later, though they’re not currently a priority.

🔨 Builder Base, Clan Capital & Game Economy

No new content is planned for Builder Base or Clan Capital in the near future. The developers are prioritizing refining the Home Village before determining the long-term direction for these game modes.

Additionally, there are no plans to allow wall upgrades without a builder, as it could disrupt multiplayer loot balance.

On the global access front, Supercell is expanding payment options — including UPI in India — and preparing more region-specific content. Collaborations like Haaland and WWE were well-received, and more are in the pipeline, typically planned a year in advance.
