Clash Royale June 2025 Update: Merge Tactics, Ranked Overhaul, New Legendary & More

Clash Royale is rolling out its highly anticipated June 2025 update, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most game-changing updates yet. Headlining the patch is a brand-new turn-based game mode called Merge Tactics, alongside a fresh Legendary card, Card Evolution, and a sweeping rework of Trophy Road and Ranked Mode.

🆕 New Game Mode: Merge Tactics

Merge Tactics is the first-ever turn-based game mode in Clash Royale, blending strategic survival mechanics with troop-merging gameplay. Unlockable at Arena 3, it pits four players in a free-for-all battle where you combine identical troops to form stronger units. You place units on a grid and use Elixir to summon or upgrade them.

Key features include:

• Merge mechanics: Combine two of the same troop to upgrade.
• Random Traits: Each match has unique modifiers that change gameplay.
• Rulers: Choose a Ruler before each match to gain passive bonuses.

🏆 Trophy Road & Ranked Mode Revamp

Trophy Road is getting extended to 10,000 trophies, with new milestones:

• Valkalla Arena unlocked at 9,000 trophies.
• Legendary Arena shifts to 9,500 trophies.
• After 10,000, players enter Seasonal Arenas, which rotate monthly and offer exclusive rewards and badges.

Meanwhile, Path of Legends has been rebranded to Ranked Mode. Access requirements now include:

• Reaching 15,000 trophies on Trophy Road.
• OR hitting Master I in Ranked from the previous season.
• From August 2025, access will require reaching Champion League.

To improve player progression:

• Early Ranked leagues are now shorter for quicker advancement.
• Trophy resets beyond 15,000 are partially retained, ensuring consistent seasonal progress.
• These changes also align with the Mastery Gem Rewards system.

🎁 Reward Distribution & Chest Overhaul

Reward mechanics have been adjusted:

• Elite Wild Cards:

1. 25,000 available via Ranked.
2. 10,000 now found in Seasonal Arenas.
3. 15,000 earned through Events.

• Gold Rewards:

1. Ranked Mode: Reduced from 75,000 → 25,000.
2. The remaining Gold is now earned across Seasonal Arenas.

Chest rewards have also been rebalanced:

• Giant Chests: More Gold + a mix of Epic, Legendary, and Champion cards (no Wild Cards).
• Magical Chests: More overall cards and Gold, but fewer Rare cards.
• Lightning Chests: Nearly double the previous rewards; now includes the Strike feature for re-rolling cards (Wild Cards removed).

Note: Battle Rewards now only grant Gold as a bonus.

🔥 Season 73: Spirit Empress & Skeleton Barrel Evolution

Launching July 7, 2025, Season 73 brings exciting additions:

• New Legendary Card: Spirit Empress

1. 3 Elixir: Spawns as a ground melee unit with high single-target damage.
2. 6 Elixir: Rides into battle on a dragon, dealing heavy aerial damage.

• Skeleton Barrel Evolution:

1. Now drops two barrels instead of one.
2. Takes damage, drops the first; keeps moving to release the second.
3. Spawns two waves of Skeletons, offering strategic offensive pressure.

🛠 UI Updates & Quality of Life Improvements

• Badge System Revamp:

1. Clearer categories and rarities.
2. Seasonal and Yearly Badges now easier to distinguish.
3. Legacy badges remain visible, grouped under new sections.

• Events Tab Removed:

1. All Challenges and Events are now accessible via the Game Mode Switcher.
2. This streamlines access and allows more flexibility.
3. Event types will be rotated and adjusted based on community feedback.
