Currently grappling with a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam, Path of Exile 2 has faced criticism for its steep campaign difficulty, sluggish progression, and ongoing performance issues. In response, GGG has been steadily rolling out fixes, with patch 0.2.0f introducing a broad set of changes. However, player sentiment remains lukewarm. Now, the developers have outlined what’s coming next in a blog post focused on loot systems and endgame balance.

🔧 Key Changes Coming to Path of Exile 2

  1. Boss Loot OverhaulGGG plans to raise the floor on boss drop quality, aiming to minimize unlucky loot streaks. In addition, monsters possessed by Azmerian Wisps will now yield improved rewards, making encounters feel more worthwhile.
  2. Corrupted Nexus ReworkTo enhance endgame progression, the number of Corrupted Nexuses required for Atlas Passive Points will be reduced. Visibility of these Nexuses on the Fog of the Atlas map is also being improved, addressing player frustration over how difficult they’ve been to locate.
  3. Easier Access to Pinnacle ContentGGG also plans to increase accessibility to high-end content, adjusting the difficulty of Simulacrums and Expedition Remnants, making it easier for more players to reach and enjoy late-game challenges.

These updates are expected to roll out within the next couple of weeks, with GGG actively collecting feedback to further refine the experience.

🛠 Ongoing Fixes and Community Response

Alongside these planned changes, the studio has already addressed several areas, including Ascendancy classes, charms, and totem mechanics. While it's still unclear whether these improvements will be enough to shift community sentiment, GGG is showing a continued willingness to respond to criticism and adjust course.

With loot drop improvements, clearer progression paths, and better access to endgame content, Path of Exile 2 may be taking the first real steps toward regaining player trust and improving its standing on Steam.
