Baldur’s Gate 3 Final Major Update Launches April 15

Larian Studios is preparing to bid farewell to Baldur’s Gate 3 with its final major update, set to go live on Tuesday, April 15.

Known as Patch 8, this expansion delivers three major additions: a new subclass for every main class, cross-play support across all platforms, and a brand-new photo mode. Over the past few weeks, Larian has conducted several community stress tests — and aside from the accidental early launch on PlayStation 5, the update now appears fully ready for release.

To mark the occasion, Larian will host a special livestream featuring senior communications developer Aoife Wilson and senior systems designer Ross Stephens, who will offer an in-depth breakdown of everything Patch 8 brings to the table.

While Larian Studios has confirmed it will not be developing Baldur’s Gate 4 — with Hasbro already seeking a new studio for a future installment — Patch 8 officially closes the chapter that began in 2020 when Baldur’s Gate 3 first entered early access.
