Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Release Date Announced – New Trailer Revealed

At the SXSW 2025 festival, Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, while owners of the deluxe edition will get early access two days ahead of the official release.

During the presentation, a ten-minute trailer was shown, introducing new characters. Among them are the mysterious smuggler Neil and Doctor, played by Debra Wilson. In total, Death Stranding 2 will feature 14 key characters, including familiar faces such as Sam (Norman Reedus), Fragile (Léa Seydoux), Higgs (Troy Baker), and Tomorrow (Elle Fanning).

The story takes place 11 months after the events of the first game. Protagonist Sam Porter Bridges embarks on a journey aboard the Magellan to prevent another existential crisis that, while previously delayed, continues to threaten humanity. At the same time, he searches for answers regarding the fate of Lou, his adopted daughter, formerly known as BB.

The game’s central theme revolves around the fragility of human connections, reflected in the key tagline: "We Shouldn't Have Connected."

Music will once again play a crucial role in the atmosphere of Death Stranding 2. One of the main contributors to the soundtrack is Woodkid, known for his work on Arcane and the director’s cut of the first game.

Pre-orders will open on March 17. The standard digital edition will be priced at $70, the Deluxe Edition at $80, and the Collector’s Edition at $230, which will include a letter from Hideo Kojima, exclusive cards, and a 38 cm figurine of one of the game’s creatures.
