Developer of P.T.’s Port on PC Announced He’s Stopping Working on a Project

Earlier this month, P.T., the demo for Hideo Kojima’s canceled Silent Hills, unexpectedly experienced a second wave of popularity. This was thanks to a fan who developed a fully playable version of P.T. for PC with various technical enhancements, including 60+ FPS, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, and more. However, the developer has announced that he is discontinuing work on the project.

On his X social media page, loreanxavier, the creator of the playable P.T. port, stated that he is halting active work on the project due to the significant amount of harassment, accusations of fraud, and even death threats he has faced in recent weeks. He also claimed that he was called a Nazi, a racist, and an anti-Semite, which led users to have his payment system and Ko-fi profile blocked; as a result, he decided to stop actively supporting P.T. for PC. Since then, the game has received several minor updates, and loreanxavier is currently working on porting Silent Hill 3 to the Hallway Engine.

The developer behind the P.T. PC Port is stepping back from the project after version 1.0.8.

The 21-year-old developer, Lorean Xavier, says the project became overwhelming after attracting a lot of attention, including harassment, accusations and even death threats.

He has been working on the native PC port since 2024 and released it for free and open source. He says he’s still proud of what he built, but wants to spend more time on his own life.

After 1.0.8, he may still release fixes or updates when he feels like working on it, but active development is basically coming to an end.

Lots of people assumed the project would be shut down due to Konami’s efforts, but as we can see, support for the PC version of P.T. was discontinued for other, rather unpleasant reasons. In the comments on the author’s post, everyone thanked him for his work and for giving them the chance to play the demo of Kojima’s game under such great conditions. What’s more, the game designer personally praised loreanxavier’s work —and it seemed like an incredible guarantee of P.T.’s success on PC.
