AMD Unveils New Radeon RX 9070 GPUs: Prices, Specs, and Release Date

AMD has officially announced its latest graphics card lineup, the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, set to launch on March 6, 2025. The standard RX 9070 is priced at $549, while the more powerful RX 9070 XT will retail at $599.

Both models are equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, DisplayPort 2.1a, and HDMI 2.1b ports, and utilize PCIe 5.0 connectors. They are powered by AMD's new RDNA 4 architecture, which promises doubled performance per compute unit over the previous RDNA 2. This advancement significantly enhances ray tracing capabilities and AI upscaling via FSR 4.

In terms of performance, AMD claims that the RX 9070 XT outperforms the older RX 6900 XT by 42% at 4K Ultra settings and surpasses the RTX 3090 by 26% under the same conditions. The standard RX 9070 offers a 21% performance boost over the RX 7900 GRE at 4K. These improvements position the RX 9070 series as a strong contender in the high-end GPU market.

However, early listings suggest a higher price point. On Amazon, the RX 9070 XT is listed at $749, and the standard RX 9070 at $649.

Slovakian retailer has priced the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC at €1,600, aligning with the RTX 4090's pricing.

These discrepancies have raised concerns about potential price inflation above AMD's initial recommendations.

AMD has acknowledged these concerns and is working with partners to ensure competitive pricing and availability at launch. The company emphasizes that the RX 9070 XT is designed to compete directly with Nvidia's RTX 5070 Ti, offering similar performance at a more accessible price point.

As the March 6 release date approaches, consumers are advised to monitor official AMD channels and reputable retailers for accurate pricing and availability updates.
