Fortnite Vaults Several Weapons from Tournament Loot Pool
Epic Games has officially removed several weapons from the tournament loot pool in Fortnite, including Fletcher Kane’s Double Down Pistol, the Mammoth Pistol, and the Falcon Eye Sniper. This decision impacts competitive gameplay, as these weapons are no longer available in tournament matches.
Recent Changes in Fortnite Tournaments
Fortnite tournaments provide players with opportunities to compete for free cosmetics or cash prizes. However, maintaining balance in competitive play is a priority for Epic Games. As part of their latest adjustments, these weapons have been vaulted in tournaments, ensuring a more balanced experience for players.
The Mammoth Pistol, known for its single-shot power surpassing even the Hand Cannon, had been a controversial addition. Meanwhile, the Falcon Eye Sniper faced criticism from players due to visual glitches—some skins would lose their hair when aiming down sights, and certain animations, such as Ghost Rider’s flaming skull, made it difficult to see through the scope.
Heists and the Black Market in Chapter 6 Season 2
With the release of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2, Epic Games introduced a heist mechanic, allowing players to break into banks, vaults, and armored cars using thermite. Once inside, players can collect valuable loot, including Dill Bits, a new currency used to purchase weapons at Fortnite’s Black Market.
Additionally, prominent dataminer iFireMonkey revealed that the Outlaw Shotgun has been disabled in tournament play before its official release. This has led to speculation that the weapon could be introduced soon but will remain excluded from competitive matches due to its potential impact on balance. Leaks suggest that the shotgun will have a short range and small magazine, making it a high-damage, close-quarters weapon.
Balancing Competitive Play
Epic Games has a history of removing overpowered or controversial items from tournaments. During the Marvel-themed season, superpower-based items were frequently disabled due to their overwhelming strength in competitive play. While some players may be disappointed with the recent vaulting of weapons, many in the Fortnite community remain optimistic about the future of the game and its evolving tournament structure.
By continuously adjusting the loot pool, Epic Games aims to create a fairer and more strategic environment for competitive Fortnite players.
