Atomic Arcade Studio Has Been Closed, With G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Game’s Fate Remaining Unknown

Back in 2022, Hasbro announced a new G.I. Joe video game, based on Snake Eyes, developed by studio Atomic Arcade, who previously worked on such titles as the Breach, Close Combat, and V for Victory franchises. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the project, but the new report might give some frustrating news for the fans who have been waiting for the game.

It’s been revealed that Atomic Arcade studio has been shut down by Hasbro, as some former developers on LinkedIn are looking for new jobs, like Brandon Miller and Justin Kimball. Of course, some players are wondering, does that mean that the G.I. Joe Snake Eyes video game is cancelled now? However, Hasbro released a statement and revealed the project is not abandoned at the moment, and a decision about the game’s fate is likely to be unveiled soon.

“The Snake Eyes game is not cancelled. The team is currently taking time to evaluate the path forward for the game. While decisions haven’t been finalized, we’re committed to providing updates as soon as we’re able.”

It’s possible that another studio will now lead the development of the G.I. Joe video game; Dead Island 2 had a similar situation when Yager Development was initially set to work on the game, but Deep Silver decided to change the developers, and the game was handed over to the management of Sumo Digital studio.

Speaking of the G.I. Joe Snake Eyes video game, it was reportedly an action-adventure, third-person AAA project featuring an open world, with further details about the game’s story or possible release date remaining unknown. Hopefully, the game won’t be cancelled as the result of Atomic Arcade's closure.
