The Legend of Zelda: Ocarine of Time Remake Won’t Use DLSS - But AMD FSR 1.0 and SMAA Instead
More and more details continue to emerge aboutThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, which launches this week. This time, information has surfaced about the game’s technical aspects—specifically, the technologies that Nintendo’s upcoming project does and does not use.
The details were shared by user SuperMetalDave64, who specializes in Nintendo Switch 2 technical specifications. He discovered that Ocarina of Time uses AMD FSR 1.0 technology for image upscaling and the SMAA method for anti-aliasing. Thus, as the author notes, a year and a half after the Switch 2’s release, Nintendo is still in no rush to use Nvidia’s DLSS technology, but he also points out that, in the case with Ocarina of Time, this may not be a decisive factor.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 is confirmed to use AMD FSR 1.0 and SMAA for it's upscaling and Anti-Aliasing.
It's amazing that Nintendo still won't use DLSS after nearly 1.5 years into the release of Switch 2 lol...but at least in this case it won't matter much.
Previous The Legend of Zelda games have received extremely high ratings from players and critics (Tears of the Kingdom scored 96 on Metacritic and Breath of the Wild scored 97), and fans are hoping that Ocarina of Time will be at least as good. Nintendo, for its part, has confirmed that, unlike Breath of the Wild, the remake of the 1998 game will not include a fast-travel feature —according to producer Eiji Aonuma, they decided to remove it because they felt it might detract from exploring the map on foot.
Meanwhile, some players got early access to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time before its official release, with early screenshots and gameplay videos leaked. The embargo on reviews is expected to be lifted shortly, and we'll be able to see whether Nintendo has managed to make another exciting game based on the cult franchise.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
