Mortal Kombat 1 Leak Reveals the Return of Quitalities and Brutal New Finishers!

A recent leak suggests that Quitalities might be making a return in an upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 update, further expanding the game's already extensive collection of brutal finishing moves. While Fatalities remain the hallmark of the Mortal Kombat franchise, NetherRealm Studios has introduced various creative and often humorous finishing techniques over the years, with Quitalities being one of the most unique ways to conclude a match.

Mortal Kombat 1 serves as both a continuation and a semi-reboot of the legendary fighting game series, bringing fresh storylines, characters, and plot twists. Since its release in 2023, the game has received multiple updates, including the addition of several iconic pop culture figures to its roster. However, despite featuring numerous intricate finishers, Mortal Kombat 1 has so far lacked Quitalities—until now, according to recent leaks.

Reddit user InfiniteNightZ recently shared a video showcasing what appears to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1. First introduced in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception, these finishing moves allow the defeated player to eliminate themselves, turning their loss into an ultimate act of defiance. The leaked footage displays nearly every fighter—except Liu Kang and Conan the Barbarian—performing their own Hara-Kiri animations, ranging from grotesque to comedic. Notably, even the game’s DLC characters feature unique animations, suggesting that these new finishers are part of an upcoming update rather than scrapped content.

Mortal Kombat 1 Leak Unveils New Finishing Moves

If implemented, these Hara-Kiri animations are expected to function as Quitalities, a mechanic first introduced in Mortal Kombat X. In online matches, Quitalities automatically trigger when a player quits before the fight concludes, turning their exit into a spectacle. More of these Hara-Kiri animations were unearthed by well-known Mortal Kombat 1 leaker Interloko and shared on Twitter. While NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have yet to confirm these additions, the extensive number of animations—including ones for DLC characters—strongly suggests that the update is on the horizon.

Quitalities exemplify Mortal Kombat’s blend of violence and humor, reinforcing the series' embrace of its more outlandish elements. Alongside Fatalities and Quitalities, the franchise has introduced other quirky finishers, such as Babalities, which transform opponents into baby versions of themselves, and Friendships, which replace violence with lighthearted gestures of camaraderie. Each Mortal Kombat 1 fighter boasts a diverse set of finishers and combos, with recent additions like Conan and Ghostface further diversifying the game’s over-the-top action. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await official confirmation of these exciting new finishing moves.
