Microsoft Reveals First Details of a New Xbox Console, Project Helix
Last week, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Asha Sharma, officially announced the next-gen Xbox console—Project Helix. She confirmed the first details will be unveiled in a week at the Game Developers Conference—and we finally have some official information about Microsoft’s next big thing.
We already heard some rumors about Project Helix from YouTuber and insider Moore’s Law Is Dead, who revealed the price of the new Xbox console and some specifications, which are really exciting. Although his words should be considered with a grain of salt, the Vice President of Next Generation, Jason Ronald, appeared at the Game Developers Conference, where he shared some information about Project Helix.
Firstly, he confirmed the new Xbox console will have a custom AMD chip and a next-gen version of AMD’s FSR upscaling technology that is able to include frame generation. He also stated Project Helix will be able to run PC games, as he mentioned, “PC is becoming an increasingly important part of Xbox. We’re bringing the best of Xbox to Windows itself”.” At last, he said about the release date but nothing certain, as Microsoft is planning to send out “alpha versions” of Project Helix to developers in early 2027. That means a full launch could still take place that year, but it’s too early to predict something. More details about Project Helix specifications you can check out below:
Powered by Custom AMD SOC:
- Co-designed for Next Generation of DirectX;
- Next Gen Raytracing Performance & Capabilities;
- GPU Direct Work Graph Execution;
AMD FSR Next & Project Helix:
- Built for Next Generation of Neural Rendering;
- Next Generation ML Upscaling;
- New ML Multi-Frame Generation;
- Next Gen Ray Regeneration for RT and Path Tracing;
Deep Texture Compression:

It’s definitely a massive update for all Xbox users and the gaming industry as well, as 2027 might be another year for the Microsoft-Sony showdown; PlayStation 6, according to the above-mentioned Moore’s Law is Dead, could be released in 2027 as well, so we might expect more exclusives to be released, as Sony recently decided not to release their titles on PC, and more games will come to Project Helix as well.
