Alan Wake 2 was designed with a target of 30 frames per second, but according to Remedy, the game will include a 'stable' performance mode
Thomas Puha, the Head of Public Relations at Remedy, took to Twitter to announce that despite the initial plan for the game to run at 30 frames per second, there will be a high frame rate mode.
"We are excited to announce that Alan Wake 2 will feature a performance mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X," Puha shared.
"Originally, the game was developed with a focus on a visual experience and atmosphere at 30 frames per second, but somehow we managed to implement a stable performance mode. Details will be revealed later".
In response to a question from one of the followers about whether the performance mode will be capped at 60 frames per second with reduced graphics settings for compensation or will have an unrestricted frame rate aiming for 60 frames per second under ideal conditions, Puha replied, "We are still working on that".
The originally planned release of Alan Wake 2 on October 17 has been postponed to October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through the Epic Games Store. Remedy made this decision to avoid conflicts with other major releases scheduled for October, such as Super Mario Bros Wonder and Spider-Man 2.
The delay in the game's release could have resulted in it launching just two days after another major survival horror game, the reboot of Alone in the Dark. However, earlier this month, THQ Nordic announced that the release of Alone in the Dark is postponed to January 2024, also to avoid overloading releases in October.
