CD Projekt RED announces Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Witcher 2007

For its 15th anniversary, the Polish game company CD Projekt RED has prepared a gift for fans of the studio's games. A full-fledged remake of The Witcher has been announced, the game with which the path of Polish developers to the big stage began.

The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD PROJEKT RED. It was the first game we made and that was the starting point for us back then. As we redesign the game for the next generation of gamers, we feel just as excited and inspired as we did then, if not more so.

The 2007 remake of The Witcher will be implemented on the Unreal Engine 5. The cult brainchild of CD Projekt RED will be recreated by another Polish studio, Fool`s Theory. The latter are made up of local game dev veterans who have been involved in work on Baldur`s Gate III and other projects in The Witcher series.

Collaboration with Fool`s Theory is exciting, as it is an opportunity to work with people who were involved in the creation of The Witcher games. They know the stuff they're working with, they know how many gamers are waiting to play The Witcher revamp, and they know exactly how to make great games.

A release date for the reimagining of the classic CD Projekt RED game is unknown. Most likely, it will take a long time to wait for the release of the Witcher remake: the company previously spoke about its plans to develop the universe of Geralt of Rivia over the next 6 years.

The Witcher is a classic CD Projekt RED game released in 2007. The first part of the game adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels gave impetus to the development of The Witcher series and CD Projekt RED.
