H3CZ returns as CEO of OpTic Gaming
Hector Rodriguez, also known as H3CZ, founder of the North American esports organization OpTic Gaming, has taken over as CEO again following a change in the management structure at the club. In turn, now former CEO Adam Rymer will take over as strategic advisor to OpTic Gaming.
Jeff Moore, President and COO of OpTic Gaming: "We continue to drive the industry forward and bring to life ways to excite and engage fans through content, events and new platforms. I am grateful to Adam for continuing to serve as the company's strategic advisor on several initiatives as he also finds time to focus on projects outside of our business."
Recall that Rodriguez founded the esports organization back in 2006 and was its CEO before the OpTic Gaming brand and its parent company were sold in 2017 to the gaming club Immortals. In 2020, Rodriguez re-acquired OpTic Gaming, while he was then working at the NRG club. A year later, OpTic Gaming merged with Envy Gaming, becoming a single brand.
Despite only joining OpTic Gaming as CEO in 2020, Rymer has been an important figure in the organization's history. Most notably, he led the merger of Envy Gaming and OpTic Gaming, as well as the acquisition of streaming technology company Botisimo. However, he will not leave the company, but rather take up the position of strategic advisor.
