Riot Games forced ocelote to sell its stake in G2 Esports
According to an Esportmaniacos insider, Carlos Rodriguez, the former CEO of G2 Esports, sold his stake in the organization under pressure from Riot Games. It is reported that the developer of League of Legends and VALORANT has blacklisted Rodriguez, thereby forcing him to sell shares in the esports club.
According to Esportmaniacos, he is waiting for confirmation of information from a number of other sources close to the situation. However, the available data suggests that ocelote is no longer associated with G2 Esports in any way.
He can't take any part in anything that has anything to do with Riot Games, and while it's not certain yet, it looks like he had to sell his stake in G2 Esports.
If the information is confirmed, this will be one of the most high-profile cases of Riot Games blacklisting the heads of esports organizations. In the past, the publisher has sanctioned organization owners, the most recent example being Andy Dean, owner of TSM.
Recall that at the end of last week, the European esports organization G2 Esports announced the departure of Carlos Rodriguez from the post of CEO of the club. At first, the club removed the ocelote from his post after a scandal broke out, but a few days later he accepted the petition of Rodriguez himself and said goodbye to him.
If rumors are to be believed, the Rodriguez scandal has had a significant impact on the G2 Esports VALORANT team. Following a leaked video of ocelote relaxing with Andrew Tate, the developer has decided not to include the organization as a VCT 2023 partner.
At the time of publication of the material, the parties did not comment on the rumors. However, given the principles of Riot Games, the company must have insisted on ending any collaboration between G2 Esports and the former CEO.
