OG will assemble the second Dota 2 roster?
JMR Luna, CEO of the OG organization, shared details on the future of the esports division and thoughts on the creation of a second Dota 2 roster as part of the "OG's Monkey Business Show" podcast.
I'm already waiting for my common sense to say "OK, we should have two OGs". I'm not sure if that will be the case, but it feels like we'll have two OGs next year. And the only reason that stops is that only one of them will be able to go to TI. But is this a problem? If you have two teams that can go to TI (of course, I think we can), then we can find a solution.
Interestingly, the OG organization already had a nominal second Dota 2 roster. In November 2019, the club introduced OG Seed. However, having won a couple of TIER-3 championships, the organization closed the project and disbanded the team in the summer of next year.
Currently, the OG organization is represented by only one Dota 2 roster. The team is rightfully considered one of the strongest on the scene, as it managed to win The International twice in a row. However, the "golden roster" of the club broke up at the end of last year, while the renewed five is just starting its ascent to Olympus, having won the recent ESL One Stockholm 2022.
