Valve will hold regional championships instead of the first major DPC 2021/2022
According to a SUNSfan commentator, Valve intends to hold regional championships instead of the first major DPC 2021/2022. During a recent We Say Things podcast, Shannon Scott shared the company's plans, citing unnamed teams.
It is reported that online tournaments will be held in each region, in which the top four teams from the first season of the DPC League will take part. Each region will provide participants with a $100,000 prize pool as well as an undisclosed amount of DPC points. At the same time, only the best two teams in each region will receive rating points.
It is expected that Valve will hold the championships in February, while their duration will be about two weeks. The three regions will fight on the weekend of the first week, the rest on the second.
SUNSfan also announced that twenty teams will take part in The International 2022 at once, and not eighteen, as it was before. Before the start of TI11, a closed qualifier will take place, following which 12 teams that take 2nd and 3rd places in their regions will go to an additional LAN tournament. These teams will compete for two additional places at The International 2022, similar to the Wild Card.
According to a SUNSfan commentator, the teams are already aware of the upcoming changes as they were notified by email, although some details have already been discussed during the meeting with the clubs.
