KRIMZ Departs fnatic After Nearly Ten Years

Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson has left fnatic, ending one of the longest player-organization partnerships in CS2/CS:GO history. The Swedish rifler joined the orange banner in October 2016 and spent 3,511 days with the team before his departure.

The number carries some weight. KRIMZ needed just 28 more days to beat rain's record of 3,539 days with FaZe Clan, the longest stint any player has spent at a single organization in top-level Counter-Strike. He came close, but not close enough.

During his time at fnatic, KRIMZ collected a list of titles that most players never come close to. He won ESL One Katowice 2015, ESL One Cologne 2015, the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 Finals, and the FACEIT League 2015 Stage 3 Finals before his official joining date, with the team that would eventually become his long-term home. After joining full-time, he added Intel Extreme Masters X World Championship and IEM XII World Championship to the trophy cabinet, along with a first-place finish at the World Electronic Sports Games 2017, which came with a prize pool of $800,000.

His last major win with fnatic was at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019. In the years that followed, the team cycled through rosters and struggled to return to that level, but KRIMZ remained.

Over the course of his tenure, he earned just over $1 million in tournament winnings with fnatic. Whether that figure reflects the full value of what he gave the org is a different question.

There's no immediate word on what comes next for the 30-year-old. At his peak, KRIMZ was one of the most consistent and reliable riflers in the world, a player you could count on to show up in big moments. Where he lands next will be worth watching.

For fnatic, the departure closes a chapter that defined a good portion of the org's competitive history. Whatever the next lineup looks like, it will be the first in nearly a decade to not include the name KRIMZ on the roster.
