FaZe Clan has unveiled the roster for its academy team, FaZe Up Next — Ukrainian player rec1ze has joined the lineup

FaZe Clan has officially unveiled the roster for their new academy team, FaZe Up Next. The lineup was announced on June 3 and features five players from across Europe, with a Ukrainian AWPer as one of the headline additions.

The most talked-about name on the list is rec1ze, the Ukrainian AWPer who joins as the team's primary sniper. Ukrainian players in tier-2 and academy structures have been a growing presence in European CS2 over the past couple of years, and rec1ze's inclusion gives FaZe Up Next a recognizable face going into their debut.

The IGL role goes to Cher1on from the Netherlands, who will be responsible for calling strats and shaping how the team plays. He's joined by compatriot yoom, meaning two of the five players share the same nationality. k0rdy from Serbia and klyrO from Estonia round out the playing roster, giving the team a genuinely multinational feel across five different countries.

Heading up the coaching staff is Danish veteran gade. He's had a long career in professional CS, and bringing that experience into an academy setup makes sense — these are young players who will need real guidance, not just tactical input on a server.

FaZe Up Next is the organization's attempt to build a development pipeline below the main FaZe Clan squad. Academy teams in CS2 have had mixed results as a format, but FaZe have the brand recognition and infrastructure to give this project a real shot. Whether the roster can actually compete at the level required to push players toward the main team remains to be seen, but the pieces are there.
