Anubis Returns as Valve Shakes Up the Competitive Map Pool
Valve has officially confirmed that Anubis is returning to the competitive map pool. The map will take the place of Train starting January 19, once the current Premier season concludes.
The return comes after a relatively short absence of six months. Anubis was removed from rotation in July 2025, when Overpass was brought back instead. Ahead of the announcement, much of the community expected the revamped Cache to be added, especially following Valve’s official acquisition of the map from FMPONE. However, those expectations did not materialize.
As for Train, its stay in the competitive pool was brief. The map remained in rotation for just one year, having replaced Vertigo at the start of 2025.
Current Competitive Map Pool
- Dust2
- Mirage
- Inferno
- Nuke
- Ancient
- Overpass
- Anubis
The change is expected to influence upcoming tournaments, including BLAST Bounty on January 13 and IEM Kraków on January 28. That said, tournament organizers have yet to issue any official statements regarding the update.
