ESL FACEIT Group Undergoes Another Round of Layoffs as It Pushes Toward Profitability
Veteran journalist Richard Lewishas reported on yet another wave of layoffs at ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), marking another difficult chapter for the esports giant. According to his sources, company leadership announced the cuts during a recent internal meeting, outlining a broader plan to make EFG profitable by the end of 2026.
Despite achieving a 54% reduction in expenses in 2024 compared to the previous year, executives reportedly believe that further cost-cutting measures are necessary. As part of this strategy, ESL Impact for CS2 and ESL One Dota Asia have both been canceled.
To ease the blow for affected employees, some were informed they could be re-hired on a contract basis to contribute to major upcoming events, including the Esports World Cup and the Esports Nations Cup.
Meanwhile, EFG appears to be realigning its business priorities toward growth in Saudi Arabia, signaling a shift in focus as the company looks to stabilize its financial future and expand in emerging markets.
