G2 Nearly Fall to Falcons at IEM Katowice 2025
This match was dubbed "Nothing Personal" by ESL due to NIKO facing his former G2 teammates, including m0nesy, with whom he shares a strong off-game friendship. As expected, the game was intense, with the third map becoming especially nerve-wracking. However, G2 defended their status as a top-3 team, though Falcons proved to be a real contender, pushing them from the very first map.
Falcons picked Ancient and started on the attack. They confidently took the pistol round and followed up with two more, leading 0-3. G2’s defense barely held them off, leveling the score at 3-3. A stellar AWP performance from m0nesy tied it at 4-4, but Falcons surged ahead 4-7. The half ended 5-7.
In the second half, G2’s sharp aim secured them the pistol round, and their anti-force crushed Falcons, giving them an 8-7 lead. Falcons struggled to regain control, and G2 capitalized, closing out Ancient 13-9.

On Dust II, G2, starting on the attack, quickly fell behind as Falcons dominated early rounds, reaching 0-3. G2 secured their first round with a classic B push but found themselves trailing 3-9 by halftime. Falcons’ A-site push led to a 1v4 clutch from Magisk, and they won nine rounds in a row.
