Evil Geniuses parted ways with CeRq
The North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has announced changes to its CS:GO roster, parting ways with its sniper CeRq. Recall that the 23-year-old Bulgarian player has been playing for the club since the signing of the NRG squad in the fall of 2019.
Thank you CeRq for over three years with us - you have played a vital role in building the legacy of Evil in CS:GO and will always have our support.
CeRq has been one of the key players in Evil Geniuses for over three years. Together with the team, the 23-year-old Bulgarian sniper became the winner of ESL One: New York 2019, StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8, BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 American Finals, ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online - North America and cs_summit 6 Online: North America, and also got into the TOP-3 at Esports Championship Series Season 8 - Finals, ESL Pro League Season 11: North America and Intel Extreme Masters Road to Rio 2022: American RMR.
However, CeRq's performance in recent years has raised big questions, as the sniper rarely topped his team's charts in key matches and did not lead the game. As a result, the low performance of the 23-year-old player led to the inevitable replacement.
Time flies, five incredible years first at NRG and then at Evil Geniuses. Forever grateful for the emotions, support and all that we have achieved together. I wish all the best to the whole team. It's time for a fresh start,” wrote CeRq.
The updated version of "Evil Geniuses" will debut at BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023, which will be held from January 19 to 29. Probably, after this tournament, the organization will decide on a new sniper and go to Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 with a full five.
