Astralis part ways with trace and start rebuilding CS:GO roster

The Danish esports organization Astralis announced the parting with the head coach of trace. At the same time, the club's management announced the beginning of the restructuring of its CS:GO roster. These changes are caused by the weak results of the team during the current season.

At Astralis, we have built a solid foundation for our team and business over the years, but while we are building a strong business, we have fallen far short of our own expectations in terms of results in the Counter-Strike division. In the coming weeks and months, we will be working on the modernization and development of the organization around the Counter-Strike team, where our sports director will review all current and potential new roles and necessary updates in and around the team.

First, we thank the efforts of trace, who will no longer be in charge of the main command. Martin put in a lot of effort, but we must admit that we were not able to make the most of the potential and skills of the first team, and we came to the conclusion that other qualities are needed, also in connection with the upcoming tasks around the first team.

Instead, our talented casle coach will lead the team in the coming period while Kasper Hvidt and management will work to build a stronger organization with new experiences around the team. In general, we have a lot of support and support from the fans, who, of course, are also unhappy, but for too long we did not give a clear direction. Going forward, we will make changes with a long-term perspective to once again meet the expectations that we, our partners and the world around us rightly place on us.

We set the bar incredibly high with what we achieved in 2018/19. No one will ever reach that level of dominance, but that doesn't change the challenge ahead of us: we have to restore clarity to how we do things, and we have to get back to where we are in the fight for titles and top positions. It won't happen overnight, but the work has already begun.

trace has led Astralis since March of this year, when he replaced ave. Together with the team, the 32-year-old Danish specialist made it to the top three at BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2022, Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022, Roobet Cup 2022 and Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne. However, the Danish team failed to qualify for the Brazilian Major, showing a mediocre result at the past Intel Extreme Masters Road to Rio 2022: European RMR A.

It should be noted that casle, who was appointed as the new coach of Astralis, has been working with the youth team of the club in recent months. Prior to this, the 36-year-old Dane also had a successful year at the helm of MASONIC, winning several local championships.

The next championship for the Danish team will be BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2022, where Astralis will again play with MistR as a stand-in. Recall that in recent months, rumors about the return of device have intensified. Probably, the organization will not limit itself to parting with k0nfig and will attempt to change the sniper.

Astralis roster for the upcoming BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2022:

  • Xyp9x
  • gla1ve
  • blameF
  • farlig
  • MistR
  • castle (head coach)
