Team Liquid will not be able to buy out the YEKINDAR contract directly
According to the Dust2 portal, the European esports organization Team Liquid will not be able to buy out the YEKINDAR contract from Virtus.pro directly due to the sanctions imposed on the Russian club. The only option for Team Liquid could be to buy an esportsman through third parties, that is, in the same way that Cloud9 did when they bought the Gambit Esports roster.
YEKINDAR played for the Outsiders team (Virtus.pro) for two seasons. During this time, the player helped the team win several major tournaments, and also reached the quarterfinals of PGL Major Stockholm 2021. However, immediately after the end of PGL Major Antwerp 2022, the Russian club announced YEKINDAR's departure, putting him on the transfer list.
The rest of the time, the young star was the main subject of conversation in the transfer market. At one time, an esportsman was matched with G2 Esports. OG and Team Liquid. However, as it became known quite recently, Virtus.pro asked for about one million dollars for the redemption of its player, which automatically repelled potential buyers.
And yet, YEKINDAR managed to agree with the organization about leaving, which the cybersportsman announced on his Twitter. As a result, the player managed to negotiate with Team Liquid to help the team at the tournament in Cologne.
The next championship for the North American team will be Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne, which will take place next month. At the same time, Team Liquid will start their performances immediately from the group stage.
The Team Liquid roster for Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Cologne is as follows:
- EliGE.
- NAF.
- oSee.
- nitr0.
- YEKINDAR (stand-in).
- daps (coach).
