valens appointed as the new sports director of Evil Geniuses
North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has announced the appointment of valens to the position of sports director of the CS:GO division. Note that the 32-year-old American has already worked at the club since 2019, holding the position of head of the analytics department. In his new role, valens will take over the development of the recently unveiled fifteen player project.
This man knows what it takes to win the North American Major. We are pleased to announce valens as our Counter-Strike Sports Director.
valens is a well-known specialist who has made a name for himself as a Cloud9 trainer. Together with the team, the 32-year-old American became the winner of the Americas Minor Championship - Kraków 2017, iBUYPOWER Masters 2017 and ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, and also reached the finals at ESL One: Cologne 2017, cs_summit 2 and ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational 2019.
However, at the end of 2019, valens decided to end his coaching career in order to try himself as a functionary in the analytical service. At the same time, already in November, he joined Evil Geniuses, having worked in the position for two and a half years.
The name valens is also associated with the ill-fated investigation into the use of a coaching bug. Recently, Dexerto found out that the former Cloud9 coach took advantage of a mistake several times, thereby gaining an advantage over his opponent. However, the 32-year-old American did not receive any fine from ESIC, while valens himself denied the allegations and said that he was trying to clean up the bug.
In turn, the Evil Geniuses organization recently signed two new CS:GO rosters, bringing former players Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts under its wing.
