Next Call of Duty Game Will Not Release on PS4 and Pre-Orders Might Be Available Soon

As we know, Activision and Infinity Ward are working on the next installment in Call of Duty franchise, which is heavily rumored to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. We heard rumors that the official announcement could have happened at the end of March; it didn’t happen yet, but there are some indicators about the upcoming reveal.

The information comes from Call of Duty insider HeyImAlaix, who reveals that the latest installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is now featuring notifications about pre-ordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, similar to what we saw in Forza Horizon 5 before the official showcase of the sixth title. That is likely to mean that the official announcement is imminent and could happen soon—or, perhaps, it will be dedicated to some confirmed events scheduled for next month—Summer Game Fest (June 5-8) or Xbox Games Showcase (June 7).

Recently, HeyImAlaix also revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been tested on PlayStation 4, after that, many fans were literally shocked. Meanwhile, the official X of Call of Duty confirmed the next title will not be released on the platform, as you can check out below:

“Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.”

According to previous rumors, the story campaign of Modern Warfare 4 will be available via early access, like its predecessor, Modern Warfare 3. There is also information about focus and support for DMZ mode from developers and the release date that is currently planned for October 2026. We also know that Peter Berg (Hancock, Battleship, and Mile 22) will be the director of Call of Duty movie adaptation, set to premiere on June 30, 2028.
