Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launches to “Mixed” Reviews on Steam — Players Criticize Campaign Decisions and Technical Issues
The long-awaited Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was officially released, but the launch turned out far less successful than many fans expected. Right from the start, the game received “mixed” feedback, and at the time of writing, the Steam version has collected over 950 reviews, with only 43% positive.
Main Player Complaints
Many users report that the game suffers from the usual technical issues common to major releases: FPS drops, crashes, and inconsistent performance across different PC setups. However, the campaign received even harsher criticism — its design decisions have sparked wide discussion within the community.
First, the single-player mode requires a constant internet connection, which disrupts the gameplay experience and even kicks players out if their character remains AFK for too long.
Second, the campaign does not include checkpoints. Any crash or unexpected error forces players to restart the entire mission from the beginning, which is especially frustrating for those playing on higher difficulties.
Availability
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Battle.net) as well as PlayStation and Xbox. The game includes Russian text localization.
Additionally, it launched on Game Pass (PC and Ultimate) from day one, allowing subscribers to try the game without purchasing it.
Despite the rocky start, fans hope that upcoming patches will improve stability and address the most controversial elements of the campaign.
