Call of Duty Season 5 Teaser Hints at Return of M249 SAW LMG

The first teaser trailer for Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has seemingly revealed the return of a fan-favorite weapon — the M249 SAW, a powerful light machine gun (LMG) featured in numerous past Call of Duty titles.

Although developer Treyarch Studios hasn’t officially confirmed the weapon’s inclusion, eagle-eyed fans spotted the M249 briefly showcased in the teaser, strongly suggesting it will return in Season 5, either at launch or during a mid-season update.

When Does Season 5 Start?

As of now, Activision has not announced an official release date for Season 5. However, based on the typical update schedule, the new season is expected to launch on August 7.

With the season quickly approaching, marketing efforts are ramping up. Just last week, Activision teased a potential collaboration with the horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. While it's not confirmed whether this crossover will be part of Season 5, it seems unlikely to arrive before then, given how close we are to the end of Season 4.

Treyarch Studios has confirmed a new Double XP weekend, starting Friday, July 25, and running through Monday, July 28. While it’s unclear if Double Battle Pass XP will also be included, the event comes at a perfect time for players trying to wrap up their rewards before the next season hits.
