From Promising Launch to Sudden Sunset

Warzone Mobile launched globally on March 21, 2024, after months of anticipation and speculation. In its first four days, it brought in $1.6 million in revenue, signaling a strong start and sparking hope for the mobile battle royale experience. Over time, it received regular seasonal updates and new content designed to keep players engaged.

However, as 2025 progressed, update frequency slowed significantly, particularly throughout Q1. These signs pointed to trouble behind the scenes, and on May 16, 2025, Activision made it official: support for the game would cease.

Key Details: What Players Need to Know

According to an official statement posted on the Warzone Mobile Twitter account, Activision made the decision to discontinue the game because it "did not meet company expectations."

Here’s what players should be aware of:

  • 🛑 No more updates: Effective immediately, Warzone Mobile will no longer receive new content or gameplay updates.
  • 🛒 In-game purchases disabled: Players can no longer buy COD Points or BlackCell bundles with real money.
  • 📅 Delisting date: The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
  • 🔇 Social features shutdown: Social functionality within the mobile app will be disabled on both Android and iOS.

You Can Still Play — With Limitations

Although the game will be delisted on May 18, existing players can continue playing as long as the app is already installed on their devices before Monday, May 19. Here’s how things will work after delisting:

  • ✅ Gameplay access remains: Players can still enjoy existing content and continue using shared inventory through cross-progression.
  • 🔄 Reinstallation possible: Even after May 19, the game can be reinstalled on supported devices.
  • 💰 Unspent COD Points: Any unused currency can still be redeemed — though no new items will be added to the store.

If you’ve already purchased the Season 3 Battle Pass, you’ll still be able to level it up and unlock rewards after May 19. However, future content, including updates tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Season 4, will not be available on Warzone Mobile.

A Quiet Farewell

While Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile had a strong start and a dedicated fanbase, Activision is officially winding down its support just over a year after launch. With the focus now returning to console and PC experiences, mobile players will have to say goodbye — or hang on to what remains of the game before the servers go quiet.
