BO6 & Warzone Season 2 Reloaded Devs React to Player Backlash Over Weapon Buffs & Nerfs

Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Season 2 Reloaded Update Shakes Up the Meta—But Not as Intended

The Black Ops 6 and Warzone meta underwent a major shift in Season 2 Reloaded with a series of long-anticipated weapon buffs and nerfs. However, the changes didn’t play out exactly as expected.

In BO6 multiplayer, Treyarch introduced buffs to the GPR 91, Feng 82, melee weapons, sniper rifles, and certain marksman rifles. Meanwhile, Warzone received a broad range of weapon adjustments from Raven Software, including nerfs to the Model Land C9, alongside buffs for the Kompakt 92 and Cypher 091. Following these updates, many players speculated that the Cypher 091 had officially overtaken the Model L as the strongest weapon in Warzone.

Yet, despite the apparent meta shift, players quickly realized that some of these balance changes hadn’t actually taken effect, prompting a response from the developers.

BO6 and Warzone devs apologize for weapon tuning mistake

Warzone Loadout tested the Cypher 091 after Season 2 Reloaded went live and discovered that the maximum damage range is 45.7 meters, but the patch notes said it was 50.8 meters.

Raven Software responded, “We’ve updated the patch notes to reflect the changes correctly.

The issues didn’t end there, as Warzone Loadout also discovered that the buffs to the GPR 91 and Feng 82 weren’t functioning as intended.

Adding to the confusion, TrueGameData pointed out, “It looks like there were some errors in the patch notes copy-pasting — the before and after ranges for the Cypher aren’t correct and actually match the Krig C exactly. So it was likely just a copy-paste mistake.”

To address concerns, Activision stepped in to clarify the situation, stating, “We are actively investigating reports that some Black Ops 6 weapon tuning changes planned for Season 02 Reloaded are not behaving as expected.”

Weapons Affected by the Issue:

Warzone

  • GPR 91
  • Feng 82
  • SWAT 5.56
  • Tsarkov 7.62
  • Underbarrel Crossbow

Black Ops 6

  • GPR 91
  • Feng 82
  • SWAT 5.56
  • Tsarkov 7.62
  • AEK-973 Full Auto Attachment
  • Sniper Rifle Fast Mag Attachment
  • Under Barrel Crossbow Attachment

It remains uncertain when these weapons will be properly adjusted. However, this wasn’t the only misstep during Season 2 Reloaded’s launch. Zombies players were left puzzled as developers pushed the update live despite being aware of existing glitches beforehand, raising further questions about the rollout process.
