New Call of Duty Update Fixes Major Blue Screen Error on PC

A new Call of Duty update is now live on Steam and Battle.net, addressing a critical blue screen error that was severely affecting Black Ops 6 and Warzone players. While the update is currently only available for PC users on these platforms, Activision has confirmed that it will roll out the same fix for the Microsoft Store on February 5.

Regular Updates for Black Ops 6 and Warzone

Since the launch of Season 2 on January 28, Treyarch Studios and Raven Software have been releasing frequent updates for both titles. The most recent major update, released on February 3, introduced several bug fixes. Black Ops 6 players received a new vote-to-forfeit feature in Ranked Play, while Warzone players saw multiple weapon balance changes. The Model L, KSV, and Feng 82 were slightly buffed, whereas the Jackal PDW had its medium damage range reduced.

Call of Duty Update Fixes Blue Screen Error on PC

A day after the February 3 patch, a new update was deployed to resolve a serious blue screen bug affecting PC players in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Many users reported encountering the error, which forced them to restart their PCs mid-match. While the exact cause of the issue remains unclear, Activision has confirmed via the COD Updates Twitter account that the problem has now been fixed on Steam and Battle.net. Players using the Microsoft Store version will receive the fix on February 5, though an exact release time has not been specified.

Ongoing Performance Issues and Community Concerns

Despite the quick response to the blue screen issue, Call of Duty still faces several performance-related problems. A recent report from a Reddit user highlighted a frame rate drop caused by breaking all the glass panes on the Bounty multiplayer map in Black Ops 6, reducing FPS from nearly 200 to just 60. Other players confirmed similar issues and urged Treyarch Studios to release a fix soon.

Performance concerns extend beyond Black Ops 6. Prior to Season 2's launch, Activision released a community update revealing that Warzone would feature less new content than originally planned. Instead, the focus for this season is on gameplay tuning, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. As a result, Warzone players only received new Ranked Play rewards and a single new perk at launch.

While Call of Duty continues to face technical hurdles, ongoing updates suggest that Activision remains committed to refining the player experience throughout Season 2 and beyond.
