Longtime Call of Duty Fan Documents Decade-Long Journey with Photos of Every Game Since Black Ops 2
A dedicated Call of Duty fan has been playing every title in the series since Black Ops 2 and has documented this journey with photos alongside nearly every game over the years. The latest release, Black Ops 6, launched on October 25.
With over 425 million copies sold by 2022, Activision's Call of Duty remains one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. The series has maintained an annual release cycle since its second game in 2005. One long-time fan has found a unique way to chronicle their connection to the franchise.
In a recent Reddit post, user RemiDanger shared that they've been taking yearly photos with their Call of Duty games since 2012’s Black Ops 2, continuing this tradition through to this year's release. While they’re enjoying Black Ops 6, they noted a gap for Call of Duty: Ghosts and the third Modern Warfare reboot, which many regard as one of the franchise’s weakest single-player experiences.
RemiDanger later commented that they’ve enjoyed most Call of Duty games, except for Ghosts and last year’s Modern Warfare 3, which hold average ratings of 72 and 58, respectively, on OpenCritic. They also highlighted their favorites: the first two Black Ops games and the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot. Black Ops, alongside titles like World at War and the original Modern Warfare from 2003, remains a fan favorite in the franchise.
Currently, Black Ops 6 holds a Mixed rating on Steam but has earned an average of 82 on OpenCritic. Fans have praised its campaign, an alternate 90s spy thriller, along with new features such as omnidirectional movement, 16 new multiplayer maps, and an expanded Zombies storyline.
Notably, Black Ops 6 is the first Call of Duty title to launch on Xbox Game Pass on release day, following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Other recent additions to Game Pass in October include MechWarrior 5: Clans and South Park: The Fractured but Whole.
