Black Ops 6 Zombies Introduces New Game-Changing Outro Cutscenes
Treyarch is introducing a new way for matches in Black Ops 6's Zombies mode to end, adding outro cutscenes that will show players being overwhelmed by endless hordes of the undead. This update will be part of several major changes and gameplay improvements, with the developers also hinting at the return of fan-favorite locations and items.
What began as a small Easter egg at the end of World at War's campaign has evolved into one of the most iconic franchises in the zombie genre. Call of Duty Zombies is set to expand once again in this year's Black Ops 6. Building on the systems and tweaks from Cold War and Modern Warfare 3, the Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 will feel familiar to veteran players, but Treyarch has big plans to make this installment stand out. In addition to bringing back classic perks, Black Ops 6 will see a return to round-based maps. Treyarch is also aiming to make Black Ops 6Zombies the most immersive experience yet, with the addition of new cutscenes that play at the end of matches, depicting what happens when the zombies finally take over.
Players got their first look at "Terminus," one of the two launch maps for Black Ops 6 Zombies, with Treyarch revealing numerous details about the mode. One of the most intriguing and surprising changes is the addition of a new "game over outro," which will play when a match ends. When players are defeated, a short cutscene will show their operator being overwhelmed by zombies. This change was highlighted in a YouTube video by long-time Call of Duty Zombies content creator MrDalekJD, sparking discussion within the community on Reddit.
Call of Duty Adds New Outros to Black Ops 6 Zombies
"Should be like a Kill Cam where it shows the zombie running up to you and the final hit," suggested user Joemama0104. Another user, ZelaumTheHunter, expressed concern about the fate of the iconic aerial view of the map that traditionally played during the "game over" screens in older maps, saying, "I hope the map also has an outro with the game over song showing the map… it was such an iconic thing." Meanwhile, Soggy_Photo_7212 humorously remarked, "I swear to god if I get emoted on by a zombie."
Not much is known about this new feature yet, but it’s sure to change the overall feel of a Zombies match. Additionally, a new Zombies perk called Melee Macchiato will also alter gameplay by boosting players' melee attacks.
Black Ops 6 is set to release on October 25, 2024, and aims to raise the bar not only for Zombies fans but for the entire Call of Duty franchise, offering robust new multiplayer and campaign modes as well. Black Ops 6 will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on day one, making it the first Call of Duty title to launch on the service. The game is set shortly after the events of 2020's Cold War and will continue Treyarch's iconic Black Ops storyline.
