Iconic Call of Duty Character, Captain Price, Immortalized in the Wild West of Red Dead Redemption 2 Through Mods
A resourceful gamer has ingeniously recreated the beloved character Captain Price from the iconic Call of Duty series within the expansive world of Red Dead Redemption 2 using modding techniques. Although Rockstar Games concluded major support for Red Dead Online the previous summer, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to have an active player base, complete with a dedicated community of modders.
Captain John Price, arguably one of the most recognizable figures in the Call of Duty universe, stands alongside the likes of Ghost and Frank Woods in terms of iconic status. He made his debut in 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, a game that left an indelible mark on the first-person shooter genre and propelled Call of Duty to mainstream success. Price played a pivotal role in the Modern Warfare reboot series and even graced the cover of the 2019 installment. Remarkably, he once again takes center stage this year as the face of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, just a year following Modern Warfare 2.
Now, a player has ventured to transplant Captain Price into the Wild West setting of Red Dead Redemption 2. Sharing their impressive Captain Price recreation on Reddit, user TheKey32 unveiled three images that showcase the character's uncanny likeness, achieved with the aid of mods. Donning a cowboy hat, designed to emulate Price's signature boonie hat, along with a rugged mutton chop beard, Captain Price seamlessly blends into the world of Red Dead Redemption.
The third image of Captain Price even mimics his posture from the 2019 Modern Warfare cover art, complete with an M16 assault rifle. Since modern firearms are not part of Red Dead Redemption 2's arsenal, TheKey32 clarified in the post that the rifle was added as a mod and is fully automatic. Furthermore, TheKey32 noted that their Captain Price character mod is available for download, allowing players to assume the role of Price or spawn him as an NPC. Price is also equipped with Red Dead Redemption 2's signature Dead Eye ability, which enables time-slowing precision targeting.
With the impending release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on November 10, fans eagerly await the next chapter in Captain Price's journey within the revamped Modern Warfare storyline. As for Red Dead Redemption 2, it's heartening to witness the enduring creativity of modders, who continue to introduce iconic characters into the Red Dead world despite Rockstar's waning support. Although Rockstar's focus seems to be shifting towards the eagerly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, it remains to be seen if they will revisit the Red Dead franchise with Red Dead Redemption 3 in the future.
