The headline update is the introduction of mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) through Riot Mobile for all accounts flagged as shared across several major regions. Mandatory MFA and Anti-Smurfing Measures

For the first time, Riot Games is enforcing strict control over account sharing and boosting through mandatory MFA verification. The feature will make it far more difficult for players to transfer or share accounts, while also assisting Riot’s systems in detecting smurfing, boosting, and cheating activity more effectively.

In regions including North America, Latin America, Brazil, and Korea, players with accounts labeled as shared will not be able to queue for ranked without enabling MFA. This policy applies to players ranked Ascendant and above, while casual and unranked modes remain unaffected.

Riot has already confirmed that violators have been identified and banned, marking a clear escalation in their long-running battle against dishonest gameplay behavior.
