The champions of the VCT 2024: Masters, Gen.G Esports, despite their excellent results, announced the departure of Kim “Meteor” Tae-oh, Kim “Lakia” Jeong-nim and Byung “Munchkin” Sang-bom after their contracts expired.

With the transfer window opening, the community was expecting a lot of announcements, but the departure of Meteor, Lakia, and Munchkin came as a real shock. The gaming community expressed open surprise and confusion over the news. It is unclear whether Gen.G simply decided not to renew contracts or it was a players decision, but no one expected the Shanghai-winning roster to disband so quickly.
