Apeks Officially Reveals VALORANT Roster
Norwegian esports organization Apeks has officially unveiled its VALORANT roster. The team will compete in VALORANT Challengers 2023 Northern Europe: Polaris, where it received an invitation from the league organizers. The core of the new roster is former Fnatic stars Enzo, Magnum and Mistic.
VALORANT has been one of the most talked about games since its launch in 2020 and is expected to continue to grow throughout 2023. Even though we're already "late to the party", we've seen an exciting new opportunity to enter the space with recent format changes and the sudden arrival of a few top players.
The past year has been a difficult one for many esports organizations and 2023 will be no different. While some teams have had to close their doors, others have returned to their most enduring titles. Riot Games has a long and fruitful relationship with the esports industry, and VALORANT has proven to be another example of this.
The last few weeks have been incredibly busy, with little time to work and a lot of preparation. All employees of the company got together and worked tirelessly throughout December, negotiations and preparation for the contract continued until late in the evening.
As with any other discipline, we are here to win! The team enters the VALORANT Challengers season with one goal in mind: to win the Ascension. Achieving this goal will require a comprehensive and synergistic team effort.
Enzo, Magnum and Mistic are former Fnatic players. Together they managed to win VCT 2021: Europe Stage 2 Challengers 2 and VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers, as well as get into the top three at VCT 2021: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers Finals, VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík, VCT 2021: Europe Stage 3 Challengers 2, LVP - Rising Series #3 and VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers.
Together with them, Keiko joined under the wing of Apeks. Most recently, the Briton played for the Bonk team, with whom he managed to win the G-Loot VALORANT Clash - Showdown and reach the finals of VRL France: Revolution - Coupe De France 2022.
The club's latest signing was the experienced ShadoW. The 27-year-old Swede has played for teams such as FunPlus Phoenix, Team Vitality and Giants Gaming, winning several important championships in Europe.
The Apeks roster will be coached by Itopata — the Bulgarian specialist has been the head of WAVE Esports for a long time, and for the last six months he has worked as a strategy coach at TSM. His assistant was DANNYTO, who worked with the Unicorns of Love team last season. Forrest, who has worked in WAVE Esports and FunPlus Phoenix as an analyst, has been appointed tactical coach.
The team's debut will take place as part of VALORANT Challengers 2023 Northern Europe: Polaris Split 1, which will be held from January 16 to March 12.
