Latest details of the affiliate program with Riot Games
Spanish journalist anonimotum shared the latest details of the VALORANT affiliate program with Riot Games. The deadline for applying to the partner system in three regions (Americas, Europe and Asia) was set for last Friday, June 17th. After that, Riot Games will start selecting teams in the coming days.
Riot Games announced to the teams that there will be 8-10 organizations in the franchises, while there will definitely be 10 teams in the European division. The format of the championships in each region will be the same. The number of teams can be changed later, but the developers expect to form 10 participants in each league.
Riot Games VALORANT Affiliate Program Features
The partner system will work a little differently than the already known system in League of Legends with competitions such as the LEC and LCS. In VALORANT, organizations will be offered four-year contracts to participate in leagues, and after this period, Riot Games may decide whether to continue partnering with organizations for a few more years or, on the other hand, decide to include new teams. In addition, it is expected that in VALORANT, organizations will not be able to sell their seats to other clubs.
The cost of participation in this program is free and available only by invitation from Riot Games. In addition, the teams will receive money annually from the assets of the league itself, although it is not yet known how much each team will receive. Approximately $1 million is allocated to each organization each year, although it is not possible to get actual numbers at the moment as sponsors have yet to be identified.
The minimum wage for players in the American League is about $50,000 per year, and these figures will be similar in other regions.
The base location of the European league has yet to be determined, but the two candidates to host the championship are Berlin and Barcelona. Los Angeles is expected to host the American League and Seoul is expected to host the Asian League.
In the European region, teams that fail to qualify for the affiliate program will have the opportunity to participate in regional leagues, and a system similar to League of Legends will be implemented, where the best from each regional league will compete against each other in a tournament at the end of the split.
