Monaco Esports signs Aogiri roster
The French esports organization Monaco Esports, owned by the soccer club of the same name, has announced the signing of its first Rocket League roster. The choice of "Monegasques" fell on the Spanish team Aogiri, which showed good results during the autumn split.
The Aogiri team formed in May last year. During this time, the Spanish team took part in the RLCS 2021-22 - Spring: Europe Regional Event 2 - Tour de Rocket League (13-16th place) and RLCS 2021-22 - Spring: Europe Regional Event 3 - Super 16 (13-16 place).
However, the real success awaited the team at the start of the new season, as Aogiri played very well at RLCS 2022-23 - Fall: Europe Regional 1 - Fall Open (9th-11th place), RLCS 2022-23 - Fall: Europe Regional 2 - Fall Cup (5th-8th place) and RLCS 2022-23 - Fall: Europe Regional 3 - Fall Invitational (15th-16th place). Despite missing out on the major in Rotterdam, the team made a strong impression as it showed promising results among the rest of the split.
Monaco Esports is closely associated with the Monaco Esports Federation and has participated in the disciplines of Fortnite and Simracing. The French organization has previously held events at the Rocket League, teaming up with Nicecactus for a game show in Monaco in December 2020. Interestingly, in March last year, Monaco Esports was acquired by the Israeli organization Team Finest in a $10 million deal. However, just six months after the acquisition, Team Finest ended its esports business.
The debut of the Spanish team under the Monaco Esports tag will take place as part of the upcoming closed qualifier for RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Europe Regional 1 - Winter Open, which will be held on January 22.
