Rainbow Six Siege’s Biggest Update Yet — ‘Siege X’ — Launches June 10 with Operation Daybreak

Ubisoft is gearing up to release one of the most transformative updates in Rainbow Six Siege history. On June 10, 2025, the long-anticipated Siege X update will go live, coinciding with the launch of Operation Daybreak — kicking off Year 10 Season 2 with a sweeping overhaul of the game’s core systems, content, and accessibility.

📦 Siege X: The Ultimate Overhaul

Originally announced in February 2025, Siege X was billed as the most significant update in the game’s decade-long run — and it's finally here. While Siege has had major milestones in the past, such as Operation Solar Raid (which introduced crossplay, cross-progression, and Reputation Score in Year 7), nothing compares to the scale of what’s coming June 10.

🚨 What’s Coming in Siege X & Operation Daybreak:

  • Full launch of Siege X and Operation Daybreak Season
  • Dual Front, a new 6v6 multiplayer mode
  • Five remastered maps with updated layouts and visuals
  • Rappelling and movement navigation upgrades
  • Complete audio redesign, improving spatial sound clarity
  • Siege X Free Access launch (with limitations)
  • Clash Operator remaster — fully reworked and reintroduced
  • Balance changes to Jackal, Sledge, Thunderbird, Jager, and Blackbeard
  • New communication wheel for faster team interactions
  • Revamped pick & ban system in Ranked mode
  • New training playlists: Enlisted and Field Training
  • Fresh Operator voice lines and banter

🎮 Free-to-Play — With a Catch

One of the most talked-about features is Siege’s move toward a free-to-play model. With the launch of Siege X Free Access, new players can experience a substantial portion of the game without paying — a major shift in Ubisoft’s strategy.

However, there are restrictions: Ranked matches and the Siege Cup will remain locked behind the premium version, preserving competitive integrity and rewarding loyal players who’ve already invested in the game.

🛡️ Clash Returns: Reworked and Ready?

Perhaps the most controversial part of the update is the return of Clash, the shield-bearing Operator notorious for bugs, exploits, and balance issues. Previously removed multiple times from competitive play, Clash has often ranked near the bottom of tier lists.

Ubisoft is taking another shot at making her viable, introducing a full rework to address past issues. June 10 will be a make-or-break moment for the Operator — one that could finally cement her place in the meta or see her fall into obscurity once again.

💾 Expect a Massive Download

With two monumental releases packed into a single day, players should brace for a large update file. The last major patch — Year 9 Season 4 — weighed in at 74 GB on Ubisoft Connect and averaged 35 GB on other platforms. Given the scope of Siege X and Operation Daybreak combined, this update could surpass that. Still, the community seems unfazed, with most players eager to embrace the game’s biggest evolution yet.

Rainbow Six Siege: Siege X is more than just a seasonal refresh — it’s a reimagining of a legendary tactical shooter. And come June 10, the next chapter begins.
