PSG Esports opens Rainbow Six division
French esports organization PSG Esports, owned by the PSG football club, is opening a division for the Rainbow Six discipline. While the team's roster has yet to be announced, it is known that PSG Esports will be vying for a spot in APAC North through Japan League 2022.
Ahead of the start of the Japan League 2022 starting next week, PSG Esports has announced they are expanding into the Rainbow Six discipline by joining the national league. PSG Esports' roster is currently unknown, but the official announcement states that it will feature "five Japanese players based in Kanagawa, Hokkaido, Okinawa and Osaka".
The Japan League is the largest national tournament in Rainbow Six to date, as it serves as the core of Japan's vast second and third tier scene. Last year, the Japan League offered a total of $439,000 in prize money, while $270,000 was a guaranteed cash pool for all participating teams.
This is not PSG Esports' first expansion in Asia Pacific. The organization currently supports a Thai Arena of Valor roster, a Japanese and Singaporean player in Brawl Stars, three Chinese FIFA esports players, as well as Dota 2 and League of Legends rosters.
